Greeting from President

Vice President,
Hideo Hosoi, M.D.

As the President, I am honoured to welcome you to the 27th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society for the Study of Surgical Technique for Spine and Spinal Nerves (JPSTSS) to be held in Makuhari on October 2 and 3, 2020. I am joined by Dr. Hideo Hosoe in extending the invitation to the meeting.
society has three fundamental principles, namely “voluntary participation by individuals”, “collaboration between orthopaedic surgery and neurosurgery”, and “simultaneous progression with the world”.
Anatomically, the spine and spinal cord are closely related. Spine surgeons treat several diseases and conditions involving a wide range of organ systems—from locomotory organs to nervous system. In order to further the development of spinal surgery in Japan, it is vital for both orthopaedic spinal surgeons and neuro-spinal surgeons to dissolve borders and come together to share their experiences and knowledge.
The main theme of this meeting is “Back to the Basics, Planning Strategies for Tomorrow”.
“Back to the Basics” will encompass revalidation of basic knowledge and discussions about ‘global spinal balance, biomechanics, and biomaterials’ and ‘pain as science’. Senior doctors with expertise and brilliant achievements in diverse fields will be invited to participate and contribute towards the enrichment of our shared understanding.
Under “Planning Strategies for Tomorrow”, invited experts specializing in nerve regeneration, robot engineering, and AI/VR fields will discuss the future of medicines through their own practice and training. In addition to gaining from their expertise, topics such as osteoporosis and medical economics will be addressed.
‘Simultaneous progress with the world’ is one of our principles. Registration of abstracts from overseas applicants are welcome. We look forward to your participation in making this event a grand success!
Sincerely,

Motoo Kubota, M.D. Ph.D.
